How to adjust pickup in cng car

Today in this article, i am writing about the exact method to increase pick up in cng car. I did same with my wagon r 2009 model in which cng kit was manually fitted.
Few days before, when my car was getting serviced, i saw that part which controls pick up. Before this, earlier, i read on internet that if you will turn that screw clockwise, pickup will increase and vice-versa. And as i was already facing issue with pickup, i messed with that screw and everything got screwed.

As that pipe was lying open which contained that pickup adjusting screw, i started playing with that. I fully opened that screw to understand and see its mechanism, i saw a hole there, that was made for gas to pass through it. So, as per general understanding, i also agreed that the more gas will pass through it, more pickup car will provide, as per what i read on web. So, after watching it carefully, i tightened that screw, but this time less tightened it than its prior position, to get better pickup.
When i was doing all this, mechanic was not there, he came later and did his task of servicing and fitted all equipments again. He tested the car as well by driving and everything was fine(he ran it on petrol). When i put it on cng, it did not start, later i recognised that cng has exhausted, so i came back at home.

Next day, while going office, i filled cng into car and when i switched to cng mode, i saw that car was not going to it, engine was turning off time and again. I switched to petrol and ran away. After reaching office, somehow i managed for screwdriver and opened that screw few turns and i tested car by starting it on cng, it started. I turned off engine and went back. While driving, when i switched to cng mode from petrol mode, the car was running on idle, but not speeding up on accelerating. I tried pressing full accelerator, still nothing happened, i was disappointed.

After returning home, i started reading on internet as how to increase pick up. All top 10 results of google were saying same thing- " there are 2 screws, both should be adjusted at their best to get best pickup". I was not able to figure out, which one is second screw, which adjusts rpm, moreover my car dont have any rpm meter. Anyways, coming to the first screw, each site was saying that, the more, you will open it, more gas will pass and you will get more pick up. Next morning, i did exactly same, i opened screw even more so that more pick up can be achieved. Car was running fine in first gear(0-20 km/hr in case of my car) but i was not able to get enough acceleration on 2nd gear. It was running at maximum speed of 20 km/hr. I was frustrated that even after doing exactly, what other sites are saying, i am not able to achieve, what i was supposed to. After returning back to home again, i read those articles again, i tried to figure out, what is wrong. One site was a bit different from  others and stating that you will have to pull full throttle full and then you will have to adjust that screw given on pipe. But that site was also talking about rpm readings, that my car is missing.

Next day while returning back home from office, i stopped at petrol pump to buy some petrol. That pump also had one small mechanic shop, so i decided to pay someone for this, then to mess with it myself. My personally known cng mechanic could do it for free, but i was not getting time to go to him because of my office hours. So, i asked that petrol filling guy whether they have CNG mechanic or not. He said we have only 2 wheeler mechanic. So, again i decided to try myself but this time using accelerator. As i have already tried by maximum open screw, which did not work as well. This time i started tightening screw 3-3 turns as i read. After each 3 turn, i tried by accelerating the car on idle. At all combinations, the car was accelerating fine on idle which earlier resulted in slow speed. Suddenly dont know how, an idea came into my mind and i tried accelerating hard, around 80-90%. Here i realised real thing. The car was not accelerating on hard press of pedal and that is why it was running fine at low speeds but not getting high speeds. After understanding the main trick, i tested screw by tightening it slowly and keeping checking for acceleration on hard press of pedal. After few turns, i saw that car started accelerating on full pressing if pedal as well, then i tried testing same and voila, it started running fine as if it was before messing with it. I was very happy after all this.
After this incident, i understood yhat this fact is totally wrong that the more you will open screw, more gas will pass and you will get more pickup. Pickup depends upon its correct adjustment which is somewhere near 50% opening of it. Rest you can check by accelerating hard, car will immediately honk at hard acceleration if it will be adjusted at its peak point. Please dont check by little acceleration. That will never work.

CNG pick up depends upon appropriate mixture of gas and air and doesn't depends totally on gas. The more perfect combination of both will give you best pickup. Obviously, you cannot adjust airflow, so you will have to adjust flow of gas.

TIP:Please try to do this while AC is on so that same can be done in better manner.
